Over the past three weeks TY students have been planning the annual Poc Fada as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge. Everyone in TYB had their separate jobs to do for the planning and running of the event. For example, promotion, setting up distance markers and taking everyone's score. Everyone done their part to keep the event running smoothly and safely.People started gushing up to the pitch at lunch to take part in the Poc Fada. Overall, we had 36 pupils taking part who all gave their best efforts. This spanned out between 19 juniors and 17 seniors which was an amazing turnout. Even the pupils who didn’t participate still made their way up to watch the annual Poc Fada and support everyone. After tough competition we had 4 lucky winners, from each category. Junior girls, junior boys, senior girls and senior boys. A huge congratulation to Issey Aspel and Abby Bryson who both won the junior girls category. Fionn Kelly defeated his competition to win the junior boys category. There was tough competition for Anna Murphy to win the senior girls category. In an exhilarating turn of events, we needed a tie breaker for the senior boy's category. Rory Sutton and Dylan Bennett both ended with an amazing score of 96m. The event ended with their poc off leaving Rory Sutton as the official winner of the senior boys' category with a whopping score of 125m. Overall, it was a very successful event with much praise going towards the TYB class who all worked together to ensure its success.
