Ramsgrange Community School celebrated it’s annual Achievement Awards Ceremony last Friday 26th May. Over 400 students, staff, parents and family moved to the gym which had been transformed for the afternoon for the Presentations. Awards were presented by Acting School Principal Ms. Tracey Edwards across 54 categories, ranging from Choir, Gaisce, Enterprise, Catering, Coding and Student Council to name just a few. All practical subject areas presented both Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate Best Project Awards as did Languages and Maths. The Best 2016 Junior Certificate Trophy was awarded to Megan White whilst past pupil Emily Kelly returned to accept the Best Leaving Certificate 2016 Award. Sporting Awards were presented to Best Junior Hurler Craig Bradley and Senior Hurler Adam Waters Murphy, Footballer Awards to Keelan Foley, Owen Whitty & Aran Murphy, Anna Mai Drohan and Rebecca Foley. Basketball Players Mark Whitty, Tommy Barron, Owen Whitty, Sophie Scallon, Antonia Rochowiak and Linda Bradley. The well deserved Junior Sportsperson of the Year went to Owen Whitty whilst Linda Bradley won the Senior Cup. Our Leinster U14 Hurling Champion were also celebrated and applauded once more! Highlights of the afternoon were each of the Students of the Year, Rachael Kennedy (1st Year), Keelan Foley (2nd Year), Ciara Murphy (3rd Year), Owen Whitty (JSCP), Zoe Clement Ronan (TY), Liam Culleton (LCA1) and Sinéad Waters (5th Year). Our new Head Boy, Sam Elliot Kavanagh and Head Girl Tanya Murphy were announced to the delight of the guests as were the new Meitheal Mentors. And finally as we get ready to bid her farewell our Ramsgrange Community School Student of the Year went to a very popular choice, Aoife Roche. Finally huge thanks to Séan McComish, a past pupil, who very kindly entertained us with a mini concert before the students headed off home on a very sunny Friday afternoon.
